The Wind in the Willows

The Wind in the Willows is a charming, nostalgic adventure that follows the escapades of four animal friends living along a riverbank in the English countryside. The story begins with the mild-mannered Mole, who abandons his spring cleaning to explore the above, befriending the resourceful Ratty, the wise and solitary Badger, and the wealthy, boastful, and totally scar-obsessed Mr. Toad. While much of the book is about the simple joys of "messing about in boats" and the beauty of nature, the plot really kicks into gear with Toad's reckless antics. His obsession with the latest fads-especially fast cars-leads to a string of disasters that land him in legal trouble and put his magnificent home, Toad Hall, at risk from the sneaky weasels and stoats of the Wild Wood. It's cozy yet exciting tale about the enduring power of friendship and the struggle between the urge for wild adventure and the comfort of home.
