Daddy Long Legs

Daddy-Long-Legs is a charming "fish out of water" story told through the letters of Jerusha "Judy" Abbott, a witty orphan who has spent her whole life in a bleak asylum. Her luck changes when an anonymous, wealthy trustee spots her talent for writing and offers to send her to a prestigious college. There’s just one catch: she has to write him a letter every month to report on her progress, but he will never write back and she can never know his true identity. Having only caught a glimpse of his long, spindly shadow, she affectionately nicknames him "Daddy-Long-Legs." As Judy navigates the upscale world of literature, friendships, and social etiquette, the book captures her transformation from a sheltered girl into an independent, educated woman, all while she tries to solve the mystery of who her silent benefactor really is.
