Jelang Oktober 2019 buku berjudul Loving the Wounded Soul: Alasan dan Tujuan Depresi Hadir di Hidup Manusia<\/a><\/em> karya Regis Machdy resmi diterbitkan. Buku yang berbicara tentang kesehatan mental ini, belakangan banyak dibicarakan.<\/p>\n

Bisa jadi karena memang isu kesehatan mental sedang ramai diperbincangkan, atau memang sudah banyak yang menantikan adanya buku yang secara komprehensif \u00c2\u00a0membahas tentang kesehatan mental, termasuk juga depresi.<\/p>\n

Meski baru dirilis jelang Oktober lalu, ternyata sang penulis sudah menyimpan ide menulis buku ini sejak dua tahun lalu lho. Dalam sesi bincang santai bersama Gramedia Digital, Regis Machdy mengungkapkan jika ide menulis buku perdananya itu sudah ada sejak dirinya masih melanjutkan pendidikan di luar negeri, tepatnya di Inggris.<\/p>\n

“Waktu saya studi di UK sudah ada draf di kepala. Mau nulis per babnya sudah tahu mau nulis apa,” ujar pria yang sudah menyelesaikan pendidikan pascasarjana Master of Global Mental Health<\/em> itu.<\/p>\n

Namun, saat itu Regis Machdy belum mewujudkan ide-ide di kepalanya menjadi sebuah buku. Ada beberapa alasan yang membuatnya menyimpan ide-ide tersebut. Salah satunya, kondisinya yang masih mengalami depresi.<\/p>\n

Seperti yang sudah diungkapkan dalam artikel Gramedia.com<\/strong><\/a>, bahwa Regis Machdy mengalami depresi pada 2014. Ia sempat merasa sudah sembuh, namun mengalami relaps atau kembali harus melawan depresi saat melanjutkan sekolahnya di Inggris.<\/p>\n

Baru di 2018 Regis Machdy merasa sudah pulih. Ia pun sudah merasa siap untuk menuangkan ide-ide menulis buku yang sempat ia simpan sebelumnya. Kondisi pun sudah mendukung untuk ia menyelesaikan buku debutnya tersebut.<\/p>\n

“Saat itu setelah lulus sekolah struggle<\/em> mencari uang. Jadi terabaikan (ide menulisnya). Terus begitu saya sudah settle <\/em>dalam pekerjaan dan ada waktu niat mau menulis lagi, pas ditawari (menulis buku). Momennya, timing<\/em>-nya pas semua sih. Jadi kayak memang ya sudah saatnya buku ini lahir,” lanjutnya.<\/p>\n

Ia pun mengungkapkan, bahwa pilihan dirinya untuk menyimpan sementara ide menulis buku memiliki sisi positif tersendiri.<\/p>\n

Karena ia bisa lebih banyak membaca buku referensi serta belajar dari pengalaman pribadinya selama beberapa tahun.<\/p>\n

“Seiring saya menulisnya saya membaca lebih banyak buku lagi. Jadi akhirnya buku saya pun isinya lebih padat lagi. Lebih banyak lagi yang dibahas dan lebih dalam lagi,” ungkapnya.<\/p>\n

Berkomitmen menulis bukunya pun bisa dibilang memang tepat waktu. Karena saat itu, Regis ditawari menulis buku oleh salah satu editor penerbit Gramedia Pustaka Utama<\/a> (GPU) yang juga merupakan teman lama Regis.

“Jadi sebenarnya editornya itu teman aku kuliah. Dia sering baca tulisanku. Dia bilang, ‘Gis ada ide nulis buku nggak? Kalau ada kirim aja ya.’ Ya aku nggak tahu itu tawaran, atau apakah dia melihat potensi, sudah kepastian. Tapi ya sudah aku nulis aja. Aku kirim akhirnya,” lanjutnya.<\/p>\n

Lagipula, Regis Machdy menambahkan bahwa sebenarnya tawaran menulis dari pihak penerbit GPU memang seperti sudah berjodoh dengannya. “Jadi sebenarnya dari pihak GPU itu sudah mencari penulis yang mau membahas tentang kesehatan mental. Sudah approach<\/em> ke berbagai komunitas, tapi nggak ada yang respons. Pas aku, ternyata respons dan cepat kan. Ya sudah deh. Memang sudah jodohnya aja sih kayaknya,” lanjutnya lagi.<\/p>\n

Setelah yakin dan berkomitmen untuk menyelesaikan buku Loving the Wounded Soul: Alasan dan Tujuan Depresi Hadir di Hidup Manusia<\/em><\/a>, Regis Machdy ternyata hanya membutuhkan waktu tiga bulan lamanya untuk menyelesaikan buku tersebut. “Menulis buku itu cuma Januari, Februari, Maret tahun ini,” tuturnya.<\/p>\n

Tentunya waktu tiga bulan terbilang cepat, tapi menurutnya jika dihitung sejak awal ide menulis dan juga riset, setidaknya memakan waktu lumayan panjang sampai akhirnya bisa dibaca seperti sekarang.<\/p>\n

“Menulisnya cuma tiga bulan. Tapi kan bahan-bahannya dari riset saya, tesis waktu di Inggris, pengalaman (depresi) sudah empat tahun. Jadi risetnya lama, empat tahun pengalaman dan satu tahun sekolah di Inggris untuk mendapat ide ini. Tapi untuk menulisnya sendiri itu cuma tiga bulan. Di-push<\/em> tiap malam,” ucapnya dengan jujur seraya tertawa.<\/p>\n

Setelah jadi buku pun, Regis Machdy sudah memilih waktu yang tepat untuk merilis buku perdananya. Iya sengaja menerbitkannya jelang Oktober, dengan alasan Oktober merupakan bulan kesehatan mental.<\/p>\n

“Memang sengaja diterbitkan sebelum Oktober (September) biar pas bulan kesehatan mental (Oktober-nya). Itu lebih momen yang pas,” ujarnya dengan antusias.
